View Full Version : Xbox sale heads up
Just got news in today that Blockbuster is having the 360 on sale for boxing week. More news will come in on Dec 19 but each store will be getting at least 1 system for sale at $449.99, this is the holiday bundle which includes the pro console and 2 games (GRAW, and gears of war i believe). The consoles are not going to be replenished so once its gone its gone.
I don't know if this is the greatest sale but just thought I'd let you know, also note that you can trade in old games and movies to get store credit for anything in the store, and i think during the boxing week they are bringing back the minimum trade of $5 for a movie and $8 for a game.
Plus a few of the games are going to be $10 off.
So far its unadvertised but this is rare event as Blockbuster is usually picky as to where consoles are sent to be sold. To have every store get at least one is kinda weird.

PS3+Wii have the six axis something which you can use the controller as a real life controller tiliting it anywhere you want and it will go, example the Wii remote and the tennis game.
Xbox does not have that feature...
i was just saying those who were looking to buy a 360 can do so....
and the Wii cant play online or even network and the PS3 is... well... over 600 dollars..

Lol, PS3 decided to go sixaxis when they lost the right to use rumble in their controllers.
Id take rumble over tilt any day.

Not to mention turning out to not be nearly as good as Sony claimed.......anyone suprised though?

plus sony loosing 5million in a law suit for the rumble controllers so thats why they created there own

K.. I missed all that. How did Sony lose the right to use the rumble controllers? Not that I ever really cared for it.. but what happened?
And wow.. 1 unit per store.. for uhm, waaaay more than ANY console is worth.. I'll be rushing out to grab that no question ;)

lol i agree with the prices, the only reason i put guaranteed per store is most of the times stores wont get a system at all. If anyone has dealt with blockbuster in buying a system they would know its hard. all i meant was that no matter how badly the store does on transactions they will be getting one.
Has anyone held the ps3 controller? it is terrible. It feels like really cheap plastic and doesnt feel like there is anything in side of it either. It feels hollow. I know there is the six axis sensors in there but i felt like id break it if i played a tense game of gears of war on that controller.
Not to mention the placement of the analog sticks is terrible. Ms got it right with their controllers. I loved the Duke controllers for the first xbox and I really like the new ones for the 360.

I was at Erin Mills Mall yesterday and they had a Wii kiosk smack in the middle of the mall and it was very busy. Lots of people wanted to try it and it was funny to see fathers and sons swinging the remote in a match of boxing.
EB Games and the Sony Store both has a PS3 booth with nobody playing it. I was standing around in EB Games when one guy approached the console to try it. He played around with the gamepad for maybe 20 seconds and then walked away.

i held one at bestbuy and was like, heh, pos...lol, i like how they changed the L2 and R2 bottons into triggers, and how they copy MS putting a playstation guide botton in the center of the controller...another thing i noticed, was they hooked the ps3 up to an obviously better tv trying to make it look better, where as the xbox 360 tv has dead pixels and looks as if the futureshop employies or whoever hooked it up did not know what they were doing, as i first did when i got my first hd tv.

Im gonna be getting an hdtv very soon..And Im wondering how can you hook one up the wrong way? Shouldn't everything go pretty smoothly with an hdmi cable? Or does it take quite a while to configure the tv itself to get the best picture possible? Can you lend me any advice on how I can avoid some of the problems that you had when you first bought your tv?

You should probably start your own thread to get better answers, but hooking an HDtv up is easy, even more so with an HDMI cable.

Sorry..I've been looking at this thread for a week about the sale you mentioned..and I think i might go tonight and get an xbox360 from blockbuster since it's open until midnight..I don't think the sale comes with Gears of War though...that woulda been perfect.And they don't have Gears of War in for sale either so I might just wait until tomorrow so I can get Gears when I first get my 360.
This is a little alte but Best Buy had the 360 premium bundle with 2 games for 399.99. It ended today.
Thats a nice deal though. Also Rainbow 6 Vegas was on sale for 39.99. Nuke let me know about that one and i picked one copy up earlier today.
Movies were at great prices too. I picked up Mission impossible 3 with the metal case for 16.99. Many new movies were between 9.99 and 16.99.
Some were regualr price though

All those 399 sales were sold out everywhere days earlier..thanx for reminding me to wake up the other day !! LoL ( i was pretty hungover on the 26th :] )...now i have to pay more but it's alright. it's only 50 bucks more.
I'm up for any good sales or best prices locally.. [T.O.] for games on the 360...39 for vegas is a great deal..anything similar to that? i'm interested in a bunch of games..especially at that price!! please let me know if you come accross anymore deals..and i'll look around and let you guys know since i'm gonna be invested with this system for many years to come.

The futurshops by me (oshawa) still have 10 360's left, i want one so bad lol, only 399! i wish i got discounts on consoles or i woulda picked this deal up.

I got my 360 on boxing day. I couldn't sleep and was up at 4am - so the gf and I got there with plenty of time. Still haven't had time to hook it up yet. I guess I'll get to it later today.
The girl at the counter said the sale was good all wek but im looking at the flyer and it says it starts in store december 26 and ends on the 27th.
Nuke Told me about Vegas becuse he ordered it online. I went online andsaw the price so i went to the store to go grab one.....
I asked the girl if the price in store was 39.99 and she took it scanned it and said "no its 69.99. Then the guy next to her said that the sale is over and the sale is now online only.
So i left. (looking at the flyer now, it says that the online sale satarted on the 24th and the instore sale starts on the 26th. So the sale was still on instore when i went in.
Got home told Nuke that i couldnt get it and he reminded me that they have to pretty much match their online price, so I went back, luckily my friend was working and he just took the game and took itto the cash and told the girl to pricematch to 39.99.
other games were on sale. Sonic was 39.99
Quake 4 was 19.99
Enchanted Arms was 19.99
and some others new titles were 39.99
Wow , i didnt know that they had some really good movies like sin city on for 4.99! dang, Im tempted to go back and check if its still on regardless of the date on the flyer
