Hope this is the right forum for this.

I have an MP3 player with 128 mb internal memory. I can by a chip with more memory but I don't really see a need.

At 128 kbps, it will hold about 30-35 songs, depending on how big the song is.

My question: how can I lower the bitrate to, say, 64 kbps so I can put more songs on my MP3 player?

Thanks.

I think you'd have to burn them as regular audio CD's and then rip them back to MP3 files with a lower bit rate.

There are many different kinds of software available in order to decrease the bitrate of your mp3s. While Ive never really had the need to do this (and therefore cannot really recommend any software for you)... you can find lots of programs. Just go to google and type in 'change mp3 bitrate'. There are a number of different programs available but the top one that pops up is 4Musics MP3 Bitrate Changer (www.4musics.com/mp3-bitrate-changer.htm).

And viola! You can change mp3 bitrates with a few clicks!!!

thanks for the suggestion Gekkexx.

I was fearing burning them into CDs and ripping them back to the computer at a slower bitrate
