Saw that. just finished the demo. Lots of problems with the demo; lock ups, VPU recoveries etc. Hope the game runs better than the demo, as I plan on buying it.

I played the first one several times (both parts) and this one looks much better, and the AI looks better. All in all a step up, as it should be. There are some major differences. When you save a game it seems to back to a starting spot, not where you left off. There are tansporters to make up for this. It is not only more of the same. I hope to have it Thursday. The demo is a 1.3 gig download. I'm hoping that the problems I had were because it was a beta.
good thing about PC games though is that there are always patches if needed, unlike console games.

I beat the first game, although not the expansion. The original DS was one of those games I could just keep playing for hours til the sun came up. I liked the single player better than multiplayer, though. Even though the story wasnt all that great, I liked how this game had no loading, it was just one huge world you ran through.
yeah i didnt like the Mp in the game either, Love the SP though and i also think the story is bland and mostly non existant but its so fun to play.
I wonder if the sequel will have MP and what will it be like. I really should DL the demo but no time to play it if i did.
I rarely get to play guild wars anymore but i love that game.
Just picked it up. Nice looking case, nice manual but i dont like how all four disks are stacked on top of each other in the case.
Ah well installign now.
oh and after today at best buy the retail price is 59.99, so go grab it for 39.99.

Installed mine, and it is worse than the demo; time to start trouble shooting.

It says it is installed, but when I try to run it I get to the start page where you pick your character, hit next and it comes up with an exception and shuts down. Says there is an error decoding. Tried 3 installs, including one from a clean boot, (which resulted in my having to reactivate windows) and the same thing happens. I think it may be time to reformat, (or send the MB back, but that is another story).
well my system specs are very close to yours so its gotta be somethig nwith windows.
I see you are running windows XP , do you have service pack 1 installed?

Service pack one is installed.I have 2 here but haven't installed it. The message indicates there is corruption with one of the maps. I think I'll install it on one of the other comps and see if I'm getting the same problem. Maybe on of the disks is bad. The problems with the demo always singled out the ati card or drivers as the problem. I installed the latest drivers after using Driver Cleaner Pro v1.2 to take the old drivers out. The disks were off the spindle when I opened the package. I think I will have to reformat. The MB in my sig is not the one that I'm using right now. I have an Asus P4800 VR- Deluxe that started in another comp I built and was supposed to be RMA'd. They didn't have one to replace it with so I bought an MSI board for the other comp. I was going to send it in but my Soyo MB died and I threw it in my comp and it has worked for a year. However the last 3 game demos I tried have all given me problems, so it may be time to re-enter the hell known as Asus Tech Support/ RMA and get it fixed/replaced. The problem with Asu is that they fix their boards, and even though the level 2 supervisor ok'ed a transshipment of a new board, RMA wouldn't do it because they didn't have one in stock, and couldn't give me a timeline if they couldn't fix it. It was a most frustrating and costly exercise in futility trying to deal with them. I will never buy another Asus product again based on that experience. I guess if I send it off, it will be an oppurtunity to get some stuff done around the house while I wait for them to fix or replace the board.
well then maybe you did get a bad disk. I have played my copy of the game for a few hours today and havnt had a single problem. If they were off the spindle and moving around they could have gotten scratched up.
Mine were firmly on the spindle thankfully, but i do hate that they are stacked like that.
Im likign the game but im a little dissappointed in a couple things so far.
First, i thought the graphics woudl be better than they are. They arent really impressive and dont look that much better than the first game.
Second, the camera hasnt improved since the first game. its pretty annoying and having the camera zoomed all the way in is totally useless.
Myabe im missing it but i like that in the first game you can have a character seperate from the team. Cant seem to do that in this one.
Also you could change the position your members walk in in the first game but not this one.
I havnt beaten the game yet thankfully but knowing that it has three difficulty levels that you can play through , two unlockign after you beat it on the first level just worries me that the game will be short and having to play it three times is their way of extending the play time.

There is 40 to 60 hours of play to get through the first level, according to the review at Gamespot. I managed to get mine installed but still having problems with it locking up and getting VPU recoveries.
well thats some good news then but im still not sure i like the whole level thing.
Why put it in? the first one worked great without it and it was annoying to learn that i could only have 4 party members until i get to veteran.

Probably has alot to do with your overclock. Drop it back to normal. BTW, the 9500, not much of a gaming card.

The processor has been over clocked for 2 years and has been stable and run a number of games with no problems whatsoever. It is stable even at 2.9, but the fan was a little noisy for my taste at that speed. It runs at the same temp whether it is overcloked or not. On the Soyo MB it was absolutely rock solid.

Are you using Catalyst 5.7? Those drivers are baaaddd!!!! I had to revert to 5.6 since I was having constant VPU recoveries too. Doesn't happen at all with 5.6 (I have a Radeon 9600XT). I haven't tried the new 5.8 yet.

Is there a working Multiplayer feature with the demo? It just doesn't seem to work for me. The button is there, but doesn't do anything when I click on it. For me, half of the fun of a game is the multiplayer side. And I don't have good memories of DS1's MP feature....

Have the 5.7 drivers, and had the same problem with the older drivers so I upgraded to the new drivers. The error messages from windows says the problem is the ATI drivers.

IMO the game lacks polish. (opinion draw from demo mind you)
You finish the demo mission and rather then the person saying yay way to go... you get a blunt message The Demo Is Over. Nice reward. Hope that's not indicative to the game.
Control of the characters is a pain. I never felt like I was engagin in combat rather walking my guys close buy and letting them attack.
I was going to buy it but think money could be spent else where.

You are judging the lack of ending in the demo? of course it will be like that but the rest of complaints are in a post above.
I do like the the story is alot better and more involving. i like the characters and the fighting is the same as the first game which to me is a good thing, and i do like the addition of the power moves or whatever their called

A demo is supposed to advertise the quality of the game. If they can't get the demo right what does it say about the game? It's a pisser enjoying a game only to get to a crappy ending.

I cant help but laugh just because you expect the demo of a game to have some spectacular ending. What would be left for the retail version? just more filler in between.
Show me a demo for any game that has a good ending, most if not all have nothign more than "this great action and more when the game is released"
THats all i got when i played the shaolin monks demo, thats all i got with my ninja gaiden demo, and so on.
I havnt played the demo for dungeon siege but the game is good and im sure the ending will be more than "way to go , no go out and buy the retail version"

Then those demos sucked too. If you are given a mission at least the character can give a one paragraph saying WOOPIE you saved our lives. Not the Demos Over. No satisfaction. I'm in it for the glory :)

actually those demos did not suck. The ninja gaiden demo was unbeleivable and was sought after by many people before the game came out, then the game turned out to be the best action game on any platform. and the shaolin monks eased my doubts about the game and now i know i will buy it. It even stops you halfway thorugh fighting the first boss and the demo is still satisfying. I dont know why you feel there has to be an ending.....the demo shows gameplay and graphics
To you, if a demo says "game over" instead of "yeah you saved me" then it sucks? Well youre going to miss out on some great games.

Yes that's exactly it.

I know it is. thats what you said.
And now you went and bought the game even though the demo "sucked" according to you because it had no ending.
well im off to play DS2, havnt tried the MP so i might give it a go tonight.

I totally doubt it. They got the same company (maybe not the same production team though) that made Alone In The Dark to do this one. Unless they got Peter Jackson to do this (which I know would never happen), this might be a movie worthy of only a straight to video release.

They should make Half Life 2. The game plays like a movie.
