I bought my son a 360 for Christmas and decide to make use of an old ammo crate I bought at an antique store a few months back. It makes a great housing for the console and all of the bits that go with it. I used black foamboard from Staples and good old fashioned white glue.
Awesome job Lesley, good work!!

that's awesome
:gik:
Looks great. But from the pics I cant tell.....is there something preventing the 360 from sliding to the other side of the case?

Thanks :)
The games keep it from moving once it's in the case. They're higher than the level the 360 is on. I tried several different configurations before I got everything in. The only thing left to do is to glue a piece of felt on the inside of the lid so that the console doesn't get scratched.

I think after seeing this, lots of us are thinking of paying Lesley to start making more of these.

I got it in an Antique store, apparently some guy found it in his barn. It was just luck. If you check your local antique dealers you might be able to track one down. It's not Canadian, our ammo boxes have been metal for many years.

Awesome, will do. Plenty of antiques stores around here methinks.
Thanks Lesley :)

I hope you find one. I used foamboard to keep the weight down, the case is quite heavy on it's own and the 360 is pretty substantial too. It's easy to work with, all you need is a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. I also didn't glue the lining to the case, I'm not worried about damaging it, I just wanted to make it removable in case it gets damaged or needs reconfiguring.

Well Jeff was totally surprised which means he didn't go snooping for gifts. He loved the box without knowing what was in it, and in fact was planning to outfit it for his Warhammer army - until he opened it up.

That was the only flaw that I spotted from the pics.
It's nice that you and your son share whimsy together. :d
