Hi
I hope someone can help.

I am sending this for my sister, she has a laptop with windows XP on it, this morning she did a windows update since it showed in her taskbar and she just clicked on it to start it, now she can't browse the net, she can connect through MSN Messenger for a bit but when I was trying to get more info from her she is now signed off so I didn't get the updated number from her.
I did mention to her that if she went to the Add/Remove page she can see the one she updated today and to click on the Remove tab but when she tried that it said this item cannot be removed. Just wondering if anyone out there would have any idea what to do and if you need the number I have to wait until I get in contact with her to get it since she lives 250 miles away.
Thanks for your help
Kathy

Have her try a SYSTEM RESTORE to an earlier date prior to the update she installed.

Worked for me several times. Also, prior to installing any Microsoft updates, you should always create a New Restore Point prior to installing any update.

weird, even though I dont use the built-in update. I go to the site and update and it works fine.

Just make sure you tell her to not choose hardware or software updates and just choose software updates and thats it.

I justed got in contact with my sister and she fixed the problem, she finally could remove that update she did this morning and it worked, she did this before I could tell her to use system restore.
Thanks for you help
