I can't seem to access Nintendo Wii's Shop Channel and am wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem or could recommend a solution.
I have no problems connecting to the Internet, despite having only a dial-up connection. I'm using Internet Connection Sharing over a wifi router. (For those interested, downloading the two Wii firmware updates took about six hours :) )
I'm able to connect to the Forecast Channel, but attempting to load the Shop Channel yields a continuous "Connecting. Please wait." message without any traffic activity. (Note: the only way to cancel this is to hold the unit's power button for 8 seconds.)
I'm assuming that the lack of connectivity is because of heavy traffic to Nintendo's servers and/or dropping of any connections below a certain speed threshold. Other online resources suggest using channel 11 for the wifi router, but this has not solved the issue.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
(btw, getting high-speed is not financially feasible :) )
