My fiancee just got an eMac this past week. Of course I have lots of Microsoft software that runs on a pc but NOTHING for Mac OS X operating system.
What antivirus programs do "mac" members suggest.
Any free antivirus programs for the eMac?
Any free firewall programs out there for the eMac?
I know my router does a good job as a firewall.
I have tested it using both grc.com and zonelabs.com.
I just like Zonealarm's "two-way" firewall monitoring.
Thanks in advance to all for your replies.

i don't use any antivirus
OSX has a firewall you can turn on
-Open up the Sharing system preference, choose the Firewall tab, and press Start. Press again to stop.

OK... thanks for the info.
I turned on the firewall in OS X.
So, there is no point in having an antivirus program for he mac?

might stop you from passing a virus to a pc user?
firewall thread....

The only reason I have anti-virus on my mac is to check mainly office documents coming in from clients before passing them anywhere else.
I once was passed a word doc that contained apparently a bad one, I passed it to a client, it of course doesn't do a thing to the mac.
The firewall is enabled out of the box.
Yer good to go.
Welcome to OS X.

I always like the answers I read here.
Paul go to versiontracker.com for any freebie softwares, lots lots and lots.
I have at times discovered software that really wish there was a free equivalent on pc. Over time you will see it isn't at all what people make it out to be.
