Xbox freezing

Hey, I've got the original Xbox and just yesterday it starting freezing like every 3 seconds for a little while, coming back and doing the same thing. I tired different games, same results. It thought it was because I was playing it too long last night, but today I fired it up and the same thing from the start.

Any ideas as to what it could be? I checked the back to make sure the fan was running, and it was.

EDIT: I just tried another game and it started freezing at the start, but appears to be ok now... Hmmmm? Will see if it comes up again.

If it's out of warranty you may want to take the cover off and give it a good cleaning inside. It could be dusty. You need a torx screwdriver to remove it, there are a bunch of screws including one under each foot.

Another thing people might want to know is if it's modded or factory Xbox.

Yeah it's out of warranty and it's not modded.

I'll check it out and see if I can clean it.

Everything is pretty easy to get at once you have the screws out. Before you put it back together you should fire it up and see if it's behaving better.

Sound like it is running hot, like Lesley suggested a good cleaning would probably help.

Well, I took it apart and it all looked good to me, pretty much no dust at all. So, I'll just keep my eye on it, it seems to be working ok at the moment.
