Remote Virus Sweep Sites

Last year, I remember running into a couple of Web sites that could do free remote virus/worm/trojan checks on your PC. But for the life of me, can't recall what pages?

This isn't for me, it's for a friend of mine who says she's infected with something that won't permit her to download anything. She runs Norton, but says it hasn't identified the infection & now she can't download any virus updates or even AVG.

Thats odd never heard of a virus that does that.

Actually there are many that do that.

Prevent access to security sites. prevent downloading, updating, scanning.
Disable firewall etc.
