changing computers

can anyone help me l got a new notebook and would like to put all of my files from my old computer to my new one l have tried to do the files and settings transfer wizard and put a cable from one to the other computer but did not workthey both have windowsw xp on them is there any other way of doing this that is not to hard to do aslo l would like to reformat my old computer if any one can tell me how to do that the os is on the hard drive and the computer is a ibm.

You can put the files on a CD-RW, USB pen Drive, floppy disc, etc. and then just copy them onto the Laptop.

thanks tsehou it worked on a cd can anyone tell me how to reformat or is it a hard thing to do my computer is a ibm think tank with windows xp.
