I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. But I just can’t get my xbox 360 and my pc to hook up so that I can share media.

I have WMP11 and Zune, both have file sharing turned on. I’m running XP home.

I have Zune running on my PC.
On the xbox I go into the media blade – music, computer.
I get the ‘connect to a window-based pc’ and do I have a media sharing program running.
Click yes to continue.
Searching – can’t find.
Then I run the ‘test connection’ on the xbox.
Network Adapter – Wired
IP Address – Confirmed
PC Selected – Failed

… and that is as much as I can do.

I get an “error status report” when I press the Y button.

W: 0000 – 000B
X: 0000 – F001
Y: 0000 - 0000
Z: 8000 – 4005

do you have Xbox connect installed on your PC? if not you might need that program.

WMP11 has the xbox connect software built into it from the info that I've found. Its seems that I'm not the only one with this problem... from the xbox.com

why not try to install the program itself anyway?
And i know my problem with the software was that it wouldnt install unless i unzipped the file myself and ran the setup after i extracted it from the file.

your problem and the one you linked to seem different. You say that you cant get your xbox and PC to communicate. The guy in the thread said that they communicate but the media he wants to use doesnt show up on the 360

Yeah - that was the closest thing that I could find to my problem.
I'll try doing a sreach for that xbox connect software.... and let you know.

I was looking for Windows Media Connect 2.0 but can't seem to find it. MS doesn't support it anymore I guess that's why.
As for xbox connect do you mean XBConnect?
