I am looking into purchasing a Blackberry and was considering trying out Telus as the provider. I have never used Telus and was wondering if anyone could tell me how their service rates. Is Telus as reliable as Bell? Has anyone attempted using the 7250 as a modem for their laptop? How costly are they?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

A good reference at McGill comparing them

Here is a site that allows you to pick the particular plans and compare them......

My son bought a PDA (can't remember which one but will ask) and is with Telus.
We were at the cottage last week and he used his PDA to connect my laptop to the internet. Surfing was slower than my high speed at home but faster than dialup.
He said prices were "considering the service, the price was not bad"
When I see him again, I will ask for the particulars.

Just an FYI. Using your BlackBerry as a modem is an unsupported configuration. Just to let you know.

Acctually the 7290 and a few others are supportive. However I went with the 7250 as my laptop is preconfigured with an aircard so I will not need the blackberry for a modem.

I chose to go with Bell because I have a previous relationship with them. However it turns out that to have a Blackberry that supports modem use in Canada, Rogers is the only carrier at this time.

We aren't supposed to support but the Wireless providers may. Then again we don't get many calls from the Canadian Carriers (Bell, Rogers, and Telus). Mostly American Carriers call in.
