I think the Americans are simply going to do what ever the hell it wants to, like they generally do.

thanks. I got the link from someone else. Well I'm not surprised. After all the water starts flowing the damage will have been done if their concerns are correct about the polluted water.

So far the water's clean but time will tell that story.

So far the water's clean but time will tell that story.

Usually the concerns are about the US drawing water from Canada.

It appears this project has been going on for quite a while so I am surprised that there is no definitive data:

*fear the lake water will send pollutants

*Friends of The Earth said the lake water might contain high levels of sulfates and phosphorous, as well as invasive species of fish or plants that could harm Canadian waterways

Have no tests been done by Canada?

I think they should have found a way to drain the water somewhere else in North Dakota. If it is so clean then there should have been no problem keeping it south of the border.

Have no tests been done by Canada?
good question.

Have no tests been done by Canada?

Some but not all are completed.

‘‘We’ve already completed the tests on mercury and fish and . . . so far there’s nothing to alarm us,’’ said Premier Gary Doer.

‘‘What is a concern is the plant-like material that needed culture testing. That hasn’t been completed yet. It takes two more weeks.’’

I think that's the crux of the issue right there....regardless of any potential pollution impact.

Did they consult with Canada prior to going ahead with this plan??
