I was wondering if it isn't worth my while...I have two carnations from a bouquet which are broken BELOW the corolla on the stem itself...if I planted it-would it just die on me?

You could try rooting in a rooting hormone first, make a clean cut to rid the dried tip and if that works plant accordingly. btw, how far below the corolla?

The break is about 1/8"-that's why I thought that it may not even be worth the effort but, I'll give it a go and let you know,Frogy!

Make sure that you remove about 1/2 of the petals (every other) to reduce the demand on the nutrients, better for the rooting with such a short stem. Good Luck!
