ok i know in retrospect, this is a minor problem and MAYBE doesn't deserve its own thread, but it is honestly affecting my work.
every 15 mins. or so a stupid message comes up from internet connect asking me if i'd like to stay connected to the internet. I can't figure out how to get it to go away.

Did you install something from Bell that connects you? I'm on Rogers myself, so I can't say for sure but I don't think that any proprietary "connection managers" are not needed in OS X, and the message could be coming from there.
The ONLY scenario I know of where OS X ITSELF would be nagging you about your internet connction would be if you were on dialup -- which you are not.

no man, i didn't install anything. it started as soon as i upgraded to the beautiful Tiger. i can't find anything in any preferences to get rid of the stupid thing. it isn't the end of the world or anything but you would be amazed at how annoying it can be.
is there any way to contact apple to find out what i can do?

Yeah. 1-800-my-apple. But it'll cost ya./
Look, post a screenshot of the message window:
When the window pops up, press down Shift, Apple key (on either side of the spacebar) and the upper #4 key (not F4). let go of these keys and then hit the spacebar. your cursor will turn into a camera icon. Hover the camera cursor over the message window so that the window turns blue. Then, click the mouse.
This will create a file on your desktop called "Picture 1.tiff" (I think it'll be a tiff file). Please attach this graphic file to a post here in this forum. I want to see exactly what this window looks like.

You're right. They had an "Access Manager" for Mac OS 9 and older, but you don't need it with OS X:

Ya do for XP, though :hst:

Check out this page at Sympatico:

There's an Options window in the PPPoE window of the OS X Network preference pane. Check out SESSION OPTION # 2 and 3:

AH! Tiger saves the screenshots as TIF files :boo:
If you double-click the tif file, it will open into OS X's Preview application. you can Safe As a jpeg or whatever from there.
And BTW, any application that uses the Print command can also save the document as a PDF ;) In the Print window, you'll see a PDF button at the bottom. Very handy. Very cool.
