Too bad for Mark Martin, I was hoping he would have won his first Daytona. Where did Harvick come from? Looked like he was shot out of a cannon!

I picked Biffle in our pool, but I've met him a few times too and kinda like him, lol. I laughed at hubby's nephew JASON!!! who predicted Harvick would win.Kyle Busch is gonna be an up and coming champ, mark my words on th:) at!

I was holding my breath for Martin... I thought he was going to finally win his first Daytona 500...
Oh well... there's always next year
That finish was increadible... they say most exciting finish ever... even over the most exciting finishes from the 70's

Going across the finish line on your roof should get you an extra $10Gs or something, that was cool! Great to see that it flipped back onto its wheels in the grass as it caught fire and Boyer was able to jump out nice and easy...
NASCAR is still probably the best HD content show, great camerawork!

Still only one big, boring, endless left turn to me.
Formula 1 is much better at showing a driver's skill. jmo.

Yep.
But it's the American Way.
They HAVE to see the entire race. Can't miss something down at the hair-pin. ;)

I'm not disputing that lovey - It's obvious that Americans like NASCAR (just like they like Britney Spears, Oprah, G.W. Bush, chewing tobacco etc.)
I just find it incredibly boring compared to real driving skill which is found in Formula 1.
Again, just my opinion :)

They can, and have, done it with Road America racing.
And Watkin's Glen gets throngs all the time.
It is a niche audience, in both cases.

I have little to no clue about Nascar and its racers/drivers.. but my 6 year old is pretty impressive LOL He spoke of the even you did kinggirl but I had no idea :) I did housework and played my favorite game Guild wars while he watched Nascar... I think he would absolutely love to attend a race.. I know there are some in Detroit or something.. might be an interesting trip LOL
My son has a race car bed and everything Nascar in there.. :) His favorite varies between Mark Martin, Dale Ernhardt Jr. or however you spell it, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon.. (all of whom I have no idea LOL) plus a Michael Waltrip.
Does anyone know of anyplace a little closer to home.. i.e. Ontario Canada that I can take my son to see the Nascar races?

He does look like Jeff, life-sized and all. ;)
Great race but wrong guy won. Was pulling for Martin big time. Don't like the Busch's. Make too many severe moves (blocking) that did and will cause more accidents. Blocking approx. 30+ laps into a 200 lap race? Give me a break. If you can, check out the huge block Kyle made that probably caused him to get loose and cause the accident at the end. Ok...rant over.

April352006, the closest they race to here is Michigan International Speedway (http://www.nascar.com/races/tracks/mis/index.html)
There is talk that they might come to Mosport for one of their road course races one of these years... but don't hold your breath..
They do host a race for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in June (formerly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASCAR_Canadian_Tire_Series) CASCAR's Super Series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASCAR_Canadian_Tire_Series))

I work up at Mosport during race season and they have been in talks for the last 2 years for a nascar race. Keep your fingers crossed. I will find out more when I go back up for the opening race on the May 24 weekend

My Lord. everytime I hear the word nascar I think of Jeff Foxworthy. You know your a redneck when.. and I hate Foxworthy ;) Takes even less athletic skill than basketball, and that is saying something.

That has to be the most ignorant comment I've ever seen you write here Limey... and that's saying something :akq:
Live a week in their shoes and you'll see just how wrong that statement is...

Putting your body through high G's for 400-500 miles requires the body to be in good shape. Not to mention the extreme heat in the car, the fighting of the steering wheel and the body being bounced around for 3-4 hours.

Some of the naysayers should see how Junior was wrestling the wheel. Unbelievable. One wrong move at 180 mph and you can do a lot of damage.
I would think Blaney should have gotten a penalty or something for coming up in front of Schrader and causing him to crash out. Jeff Gordon (my favourite) came in 8th after all the penalties...lol. It was a very good race. I loved it.

And my view on F1, is Michael Schumacher gets the pole, takes the lead and no one passes him.
Same difference. Like they say to each their own.

No one passes Micheal because they lack the skill to do so.
And driving for Ferrari doesn't hurt either.
