That's wrong. Bell will not let us out of our 24M contract not with out paying $400.00 plus taxes. So I took the Rogers Celll phones back. But as soon as we are clear from Bell We are going to go to Rogers or Fido or Telus.
We are also switching our home phone service to Rogers as well.
Has anyone else had this type of experience with Bell Mobility, I would really like to here from you

personally, I hate Bell mobility.
and the reason is due to their lack of NEW cell phones.
They sell the worst cellular phones period.
If you go and compare
Bell Mobility Cell Phones to Telus' Cell Phones you will CLEARLY see
Telus > Bell

What type of negative experience have you had with Bell? Not being let out of a contract is standard, thats the whole point of a contract, its a guranteed revenue stream for a company for the term of the contract, the reaction would have been the same from Rogers, Telus or Fido. Its not about choosing the phone and then then company, if you choose a phone you like and it happens to be with Telus, they may have very poor coverage where you work or live and then your nice new phone is a paper weight. Research the coverage the companies offer, and then based on that choose your phone. Coverage does differ from company to company, and depending on where you vacation their may be little or no coverage from one but great coverage from another. Your phone usage should also be a major factor as the various companies have different plans. Do you use your phone more during the day, or the evening or on the weekends?

Telus may be ok in the city but take a trip to the states and try to keep a cell active even when making calls, almost imposible. Company phone is telus, and also uses the Mike on the same phone, Mike is fine when stopped but when in motion, it changes cells back and forth constantly.
Bell on the other hand lets you have a conversation without interruption from changing cells even in the states.
One of the fellows I work with sells telus on the side, comming from him I don't think I'd ever purchase any contract with Telus.
Fido and Rogers is fine in city areas as well but from the stories I've been told from customers of these two, I think I will stay with Dingaling.
i have virgin and they are on the bell network, great coverage and cant beat the price

I use Telus and Rogers....both have been fine. Coverage has been superior with Rogers i've found when using a phone with 850MHz (which all current phones support), and Telus has also been pretty reliable....with this strike though....yah, I don't know what to expect of them, getting ahold of customer service today was pretty brutal...
Yah. i'm not a fan of Bell Mobility...in response to a previous statement though, Rogers has the better setup of ECF....Bell/Telus, et all charge depending on your term length...one of my friends got told he'd have to pay around $500 to cancel with Telus....
Rogers is $20/Month to a maximum of $200....no matter what your contract length is.
Best of luck with ur Bell phones

Actually Chrispy, not all GSM cell phones support 850MHz, the quad and dual band ones do of course, but Rogers still sells phones that a tri band and do not support 850MHz.

Has anyone ever got out of a contract with Bell without paying any penalities? I would really like to find out

I heard there was a loophole with the contract that will get you out without penalty but I can't remember, you'll have to read over the contract. Personally, i'm on Fido, don't travel and I get great voice quality, full reception everywhere I go and excellent service.

Um, tri-band phones support 850MHz...all phones on Rogers current lineup support 850MHz
My phone is triband and has 850MHz even....A lot of motorolas are quad band though, but most nokia and sony ericsson's are tri-band

Well it used to be, tri band did not include the 850 band, now I see rogers has changed their line up to only include phones that have this band, which is good.

Agree with you guys, Bell sucks. I have two phones with Rogers and a BlackBerry with Telus. Telus has a very good TechSupport though.

As someone that has worked for Telus and Rogers, I can honestly tell you that Telus overall has the best customer service and better coverage(coverage may differ depending where you live), however they do have the highest cancelation fee. If you want to get out of your bell contract the only thing you could do is put them on ebay and see if someone would take over the contract.

I have both Bell and Rogers cell phones, Bell for work in which I use both thier 10-4 service(same as mike) for contact with dispatch. The 10-4 works better than my phone service the majority of the time when I'm off the 401 corridor. My rogers has never failed me yet.

The Mike service is provided by the company and does work, but I complain about the constant changing of cells which degrades and distorts voice communications. Certain areas are so bad that it is impossible to use. Once the areas have been identified we simply wait until we get a better signal.
Bell doesn't seem to have that problem, seems when I switch cells, you hear a click as one hands off to the other but no voice distortion. It is possible that the telephone works a bit differently than the walkie talkie system Mike works on. :rrg:
