Just found this site. Some of the links are nice. What do you think. Is the list correct?

I agree with Hendrix (for guitarist), and Neil Peart (drums), but for bass, I'd have to go with either John Entwistle (the Who) or Jack Bruce (Cream).

Greatest guitar solo for me would be Stairway to Heaven (Jimmy Page). Absolutely brilliant imo.

Interesting site - thanks :)

Greatist guitarist, might have been Lenny Breau, a Canadian. He was at least as innovative as Jimi, and probably moreso, in his own way. He had a 7 string guitar made, because there weren't enough notes on a 6 string. He chose to go into jazz, so is not as well known, except to musicians.

YES!

Krupa has had more an influence on me than many others.

Jimi is great, for Rock.

But I would have to defer to Carlos Montoya (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Montoya) as the best player, ever.

Lenny was brilliant - no question...

Did you ever catch the TVO special on him a couple of years ago? - I wish I would have taped it :( - I think the show was called "Masterworks".

Lenny also taught Randy Bachman at a young age and was a huge influence on him in later years. In fact, I remember Bachman saying that the chord progression in "undun" was a reworked Lenny Breau riff.

Good point...

I should have added that my selections above are for "Rock" only.

for Rock, hands down. John Bonham.

After spending 2 and half years studying every shot, and performing nightly, I saw many sides to that musician.

Watch the solo on the last DVD.

Somewhere I have the tape documentory on Lenny Breau. I recall watching him weekly, On Music Hop, from Winnipeg. He was clearly in another dimension, even then. He was able to do, on guitar, things that no one ever thought of, and some things that were considered impossible. It was a shame the way he went out, and his murder is still unsolved.
