ipod vs mp3

:rrg: I know I posted this on Mac help but I have a feeling it should have been posted here. I hope so anyway.

I rec'd this email from a friend in England and I can not answer it as I really don't use my ipod for this kind of thing. I hope someone can answer it for me.

I am trying to decide on an MP3 player to use when mowing the grass here!! I would also like it to be able to store some digital photos and maybe the odd file when visiting over to see Clare. I am thinking of the Mini or the 20GB version.

Some hard disk MP3 players are read in Windows Explorer as additional drives and you can drag and drop files on to the MP3 player disc. Can you do this with the Apple? Also I note the Ipod does not support Windows WMA file format but I guess we would be using the MP3 format so that should not be a problem

So far as I know or at least heard Apple is suppose to make WMA format available for the Ipod some point this year .. I can't confirm this so treat it as a rumour. I use AAC with mine but also have some MP3's loaded onto it. You use Itunes to transfer your music to the Pod and you can do drag and drop, some people don't like the Itunes software but I do, I guess it's just a matter of preference. I would also suggest getting the 20gig Ipod if possible, I was going to get a mini at first then decided it wouldn't be big enough, was going to get a 20gig but the store had a 60gig so I grabbed that, it has over 10gigs on it so far :)
