Stupid but curious question for you guys. I am under the assumption that the 360 is basically a computer. Therefore, shouldn't matter if you always leave it on (dashboard not in game).

Do you guys just leave your consoles on, or shut them off? I am pretty new to the 360 so I don't know how it behaves. Most i've done is leave running on the dashboard over night to do some downloading.

Whats your thoughts?

I only have mine on if i'm using it... otherwise it's off. THere is a setting in the 360 that will turn it off after 6 hours of inactivity. Basically i treat my 360 like i would any other video game console i own. If I'm not playing it, I turn it off.

I wouldnt leave it running all night. I dont see the point. Downloads dont take long enough to warrant leaving it on overnight. It defintely isnt a PC and idont get why people say this more for the 360 than for the ps3.

Well when you download a 600+mb GRAW2 demo, it takes time :). But i'll definately put that timer on for the 6hour thing.

Compygeek, where exactly is that setting?

I downloaded the 1.2 gig crackdown demo in about 15-20 minutes (which in itself was a waste of time)

Microsoft support told me its best not to leave it on. First of all, no reason to, its a total waste of power, plus they run rather warm even in idle, so the fan in it is running almost non-stop.

it's an excellent tile/floor heater, should you prefer to leave it on.

otherwise, off. no doubt.

You must be a fairly fast connection. Because I can't download 1.2gig that fast. That would probably take 45-1hour. I am only as 3mbit sympatico.

I think i'll look into that setting for shutting it off after idle. What I meant as well, if I am watching a leaf game during the intermissions i'll play some games, so i'll leave it on as well, (15min max i guess)

sorry it took me so long to respond, i've been in quebec for a funeral. the shutdown timer is in the system settings on the dashboard blade. I think it's default to on anyway, but you'll have to double check that.
