computer keep on disk checking on startup

hi guys, hope anyone can help me...my computer performs a disk check everytime i turn it on and then after 3 minutes it freezes up especially when i connect to the internet...im using xp pro..sp2

"Disk Check" do you mean a scandisk or do you have something Like CCleaner loaded to scan HD at startup?

You may want to check your startup items (run msconfig and go to startup tab and you may want to check your boot.ini while there too).

The freeze up is probably caused by other conflicting programs loading at startup while whatever program is running it's scan.
