Would anyone happen to know where I could go to get an original Xbox repaired? Its not under warranty or anything like that, it simply needs to be repaired. It is giving me the "Your Xbox requires service" message and something inside the console makes a loud vibrating noise whenever you turn it on. I'm in London so any help is appreciated!

I have seen a place just east of Rectory on Hamilton road that says it does repairs and mods but I haven't had any dealings with them. its just a little computer shop a couple doors down from the intersection on the south east side.

Thanks Mike, you wouldn't happen to know the name of the company or anything like that? Or an address number?

So I went to Dragun and the guy told me I have an issue with my hard drive, that it's slowly dying and it'd be too expensive to fix it he says. He suggested buying another xbox at a pawn shop..

Could Microsoft fix it for cheap if I call them? The idea of buying another console, losing all my data on my hard drive and having to go through putting my gamertag on another console sounds like a pain in the backside.

I doubt Microsoft is cheap on their repairs. Also the chances of them transferring the data (if even possible if the HD is gone) to a new HD are pretty slim I think. They just replace parts or give you a refurbished one.

Switching the HD isn't that easy either since the HD and motherboard are a matched set. If you have a mod chip you could do it but like I said if the machine isn't working due to bad HD, it doubt you can recover your data.

a hdd replacement shouldnt be an expensive thing to do. basically you might as well mod the system and install a bigger hdd at the same time.

I used to do this but currently out of xbox chips.
if you still need help though send me an email or pm
