When I got this new system I had to re-install Winxp Pro but even before that when I had to re-install Windows on my old P3 I always got these folders called FOUND.000 now I have upto FOUND.011 & in those folders are FILE0000.CHK files in them some has lots of them & others 1 or 2, now I think there something to do with me re-installng windows everytime. Can I get rid of these FOUND.000-FOUND011 folders on my C: directory or are they important to have? I cant see them in my windows C drive cuz there hidden folders the only way I can see them is in cuteftp, how can I make these folders visable so I can delete them?

You can see them by changing the folder options. In my computer or Windows Explorer go to tools, folder options. Go to the view tab and select the option show hidden files and folders. Then click ok.
Regarding the check files, I believe they are lost files found when windows check disk or scandisk runs. The data that these folders vary from documents you are working on or files windows was using and lost.

You can safely remove all the *.chk files and their folders, as tsehou mentioned they are left over from running chdsk when the convert to switch (/F) is used.

Oh so there chk/scan disk files, are they all the bad files or currupt ones that the disk scans when the pc has to reboot for some reason then goes to this blue scan screen for erorrs? So there useless files or import ones will I be losing any important stuff or are they just erorr files?

"What Are .CHK Files?
(This is only applicable to MS-DOS based computers, whether or not they are using Windows)
Whenever you run a disk scan and repair tool, such as ScanDisk or ChkDsk (depending on your operating system), the default action when finding errors on the hard disk (such as invalid clusters) is to save the affected files as a .CHK file, thus "repairing" the error.
The next question that follows is if these .CHK files can be deleted. If you wish, the files probably can be safely deleted without any problems (use your discretion). You, however, may want to first examine these files with a file hex editor (if you have such a program), checking to see if there is any data contained in the .CHK files that you would like to recover."
There is trialware here if you so choose to recover

More often than not you can just delete them.

one side note to this.
if you have a large amount of chk files it may be time to run the hard disk
diagnostic. if nothing is found do a defrag. never do a defrag if errors are
found you could corrupt the drive. the reason I mention this is your
drive may be failing. it is in your best interest to find out now so you can
backup important data and replace the drive if needed.

But its a new HD that I bought for my old system & now put in in my new system, like I said before on my old P3 rig I got these FOUND.000 files upto FOUND.011, no new found folders on my new system so far.

Just as a side note Megame, you may want to run CrapCleaner www.CCleaner.com and scan for issues, you may find that there's a lot of crap in the registry.

This program wont screw up my registry will it? It will just remove the useless & old crap that I used before which I may not use now?
