Does anybody know how to fix this problem ?

Specs
amd barton 2500 mobile
Abit Nsf7 rev 2 mobo
1gig pc 3200
2x120gig Maxtor hdd
dvd burner....and so on ...
im really baffled here ... the only way i can think of to fix this problem would be a bios upgrade maybe ? ... i dont know ... any suggestions are welcomed !
Don't worry about it - my system doesn't even list it in device manager.

In this case it's the OS that doesn't know what it's running on. Windows quite often gets it wrong with AMD CPUs.

If intending to update the BIOS,
Be sure to use the correct one since there are various revisions of the NF7.

The right call. It's an older BIOS not reporting the CPU correctly.

You can use the following free utility to identify your processor:

You can also manually enter the cpu information in the registry.
Windows registry for CPU information.
Windows XP registry has basic CPU info in the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\Cen tralProcessor\0

Well what do you expect? Mobile cpus are used in laptops.
