"Just wanted to inform others that at the present time Wilson Road in Oshawa is blocked off from Olive to Shakespeare Avenue....there is an apparent hostage take down.....gun shots have been fired....the swat team is there and the Durham Region Command Centre."

This was posted @ 12:22pm today.

Pasted from http://www.kx96.com/ website. (click on the news link) & the CKDO website http://www.ckdo.ca/newsDRI-01.asp

"Durham Police involved in a standoff. Sergeant Paul McCurbin says a male suspect is armed inside a Crerar Avenue residence, near Olive and Wilson. He's asking residents in the area to stay inside their homes and away from windows and doors. Sergeant McCurbin says the man has fired his weapon. Officers were called to the area just before 10 on reports of a distraught male, and that a shot had been fired."

I know things always get heated up. I personally do not take it to heart. However sometimes (especially when you look at the responses) it seems like some get a lil pissy.

NP for the info. Makes me thankful I live in the northern trashy area and not the southern one....and it just has to be a crazy white guy. :P

Nothing yet....just found it on another local oshawa radio station website. I have been glued to CP24......heard nothing yet. Guess this lil stain of a city does not rate high enuff for this kind of coverage :P Apparently who is wearing what (fashion something or another)makes better news.

Oshawa and safe are hardly ever used in the same sentence anymore. I also live in the North End and it is getting pretty bad where I live as well

I agree....I have a friend from Jamaica and I asked him what he thought about the crime in TO. He told me Kingston Jamaica has about 900 murders a year.....vs Toronto's 50+ a year. He feels statistically safer in TO....and that is how I feel about Oshawa VS TO.
