What are the chances of them beating the Islanders on Thursday and Habs on Saturday?
It'll be a damn miracle if the take that 8th spot I can tell you that much.

B***h.. so have faith. 8th spot. ;)

I hope it does come down to the game on saturday against the Habs.

Lots at stake so it should be a great game.

That McCabe overtime goal last night was a beauty :bsu:

You DO recall that the Leafs have beaten a much superior Ottawa team in playoffs past don't you? :d

On paper, the odds are against the Leafs, but the Leafs were also underdogs against Ottawa, and the Leafs beat them twice in previous first rounds. In fact, the Leafs embarrassed them.

So, until the fat lady has sung, the opera ain't over :d

I know, I'm such a bad fan lol

I realize that they've beaten Ottawa but I just don't see it happening against Buffalo, maybe I'm wrong and I would love to see them prove me wrong but putting the playoffs aside let's just see if they can beat the Isles tonight .. first things first

My Lord, the negative outlook is very odd coming from you Lee Anne! All this means is the Leafs have to beat the Habs on HNIC in regulation time. What a game it should be! In a boring as all heck sport now, this is the best thing to happen since Tie Domi suckers Ulf! Go Leafs Go!

Well right now I'm a Devils' and Flyers' fan. These two teams better shut the Islanders down.

I'm sure pigs everywhere will be growing wings if the Leafs and Flyers win Saturday night.

Reminds me of a joke

Satan was out for a walk through Hell, making sure things were running smoothly. He arrived at the Lake of Fire and saw a man sitting by the lake, relaxing in a lawn chair, looking very contented. Perplexed, Satan approached the man and asked:

"Human, are you not hot or bothered by this heat?"

The man replied, "Oh no, not at all. I lived in downtown Toronto and this weather is like a typical July day in the city."

Satan thought that this was not a good omen, so he rushed back to the furnace room and turned up the heat another 100 degrees. Satisfied with himself, he returned to the Lake of Fire to check on the young man.

When he got there, the man was had a few beads of sweat, but still looked comfortable. Again Satan asked the Toronto native, "Are you not uncomfortable yet?"

The young man looked up and said, "No, the temperature is like a hot August day in Toronto. I'm coping fine."

Satan decided that he had to do something drastic to make this man's stay in Hell unpleasant. He went back to the furnace room and turned the heat all the way down, and then turned up the air conditioning. The temperature in Hell quickly dropped well below zero. As he approached the Lake of Fire, he noticed that it was now frozen over but the young man was jumping up and down wildly and cheering.

"What are you so happy about now?" asked Satan.

The young man replied: "The Leafs have won the Stanley Cup! The Leafs have won the Stanley Cup!"

If the Islanders win their remaining 2 games and the Leafs beat the Habs, then Islanders are in. The Leafs no longer control their own destiny.

I don't think the Isles will get in, they play the Flyers Sat afternoon then Jersey on Sunday afternoon, I think that New Jersey will win that game.

As for me being 'negative' well you know I'm not trying to be negative but you remember how well the Leafs did against Buffalo they last time they faced eachother in the playoffs right? I don't think that either Montreal or Toronto would do that well against Buffalo, they have a very strong team right now and will be difficult to beat .. even Mike from Buffalo has said the same thing & I think he knows more about the Leafs then even the Leafs do lol

The Sabres have the Leafs number. Imo Raycroft sucks. Go Jays go! Oh, and the Raptors too.

T_Totler
04-06-2007, 05:50 PM
Raycroft's biggest problem is lack of consistency.

All great goalies (Ken Dryden and Patrick Roy to name but two) became great simply because they were consistent.

This is a mental preparation and focus process more than anything else, and very few have this gift.

He only faced something like 3-4 shots in the 3rd period. That was a good move by Maurice as Raycroft was off his game (again lol).

The talk is that New Jersey's top players (including Brodeur) will be given a rest for today's game rather than risk injuries, which makes sense because there's nothing at stake for the Devils with today's game.

So begins 41 years of futility and the unwillingness to improve. I feel bad for the TRUE Leaf fans, not the shirt and tie wearing sushi eaters sitting in the platinum seats, but the guys and gals stuck at work listening to the game in the radio hanging on every word.

MLSE has no reason to improve the on ice product and even if JFJ gets the axe, the next chimp they put in charge won't fare any better.

If I were Mats, I would ask for a trade. Sure he mailed it in with only 1 goal in the last 19 games but with out a supporting cast so would anyone. He's too classy to come out in the press to ask to be moved and the clocks ticking on the years he has left in the league.

Package him out at the draft like they did to Wendel and start over again. How much worse can it get? 42 years? 52?

I admire Mats for wanting to stay in Toronto knowing the fate of staying however they should ask him to waive his no trade clause let him go while they can still get something for him.

Dan
04-08-2007, 09:30 PM
question is what can they get for him

eddyk
04-08-2007, 09:31 PM
I also agree that Sundin should be traded while he still has something to offer another team.

The problem is who would be willing to pay Sundin what he is getting in Toronto or will the Leafs get stuck with paying a portion of the contract if they want to unload him.

Lee Anne
04-08-2007, 09:50 PM
True, so far as I know the Leafs are still paying off Belfour's contract without getting saddled with Sundin's on top of it
