Hi guys,
I'm considering overclocking my processor as a cheap way of keeping my system for another year or so (before dumping it on my folks).

I've run into some issues running out of processor power while running audio programs like Reason 3. It doesn't happen often but I'd like to reduce the instances.

I would like to keep the system reliable.
Can anyone tell me what gains I can expect?

I am currently running....
AMD Sempron 2800+
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
1GB of RAM pc3200
Asus Radeon 9200SE/T 128MB
160GB Maxtor SATA HD 8MB Buffer
LG DVDR
Antec case and PSU
Case fan

Any answers would be greatly appreciated or if you could point me to any other websites.

My thought's are a gig of ram should be ok ... Sempron is ok for office or surfing but can not handle video or audio type work . I seen a new AMD3500+ 939 CPU at one of my stores on College street ,(CTY Computers). You can O/C this without too much trouble but prolly won't need to.
AMD Athlon64 939 3500+/2.2GHz CPU(FSB400,512K L2 Cache,Boxed)
Discounted Cash Price: $109.99

That's not a bad price but his board is a socket A so he would hav to but a new board as well. Fastest CPU it can take is a Althlon XP 3200+ Barton Core 400 Mhz on Ebay for an average price of about $140 + shipping

I think that $140 would be better spent on a new system.

I just made a few changes to the BIOS from a guide at Tom's Hardware http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/09/22/bios_for_beginners/index.html

My Bad I forgot they did make Socket A Sempron Chip's DOH
Cancel that .,..When you are ready to upgrade There was a huge drop at CC's on the AMD5000 AM2 chip From $260 down to $200 if you don't mind on board video another $100 for Mobo and $100 for a gig of DDR2 667...your out the door for under 5 and it would be 10times the system .

Overclocking the processor will have a negligible impact at best.

Socket A Sempron = Relabeled Athlon XP at lower clock speed given PR rating.
