View Full Version : Who makes the best submarine sandwich??
There's a Quiznos that just opened near my office and I had an Italian sub over there. First time I've ever had a Quiznos sub and I must say it's the best sub I've ever had (other than homemade of course).
So, who makes the best submarine sandwich?

Mr Sub still has my patronage, I dislike subway as the last couple of times the bread was like eating 10 grid emery cloth.
I last had a subway in the states, and had to stand in line behind this Behemoth of a man who had to support his weight on the tray slide all the while salivating while the guy was making his TWO FOOT LONG Subs, he must have had a guilt trip as he ordered a half gallon of Diet Coke! After that I ordered my meagre Six inch sub with a variety of meats along with a small coke and told them to keep the chips. That sub tasted terrible and maybe it was the sight of this blob and thinking about him inhaling those two long boogers and then wash it all down with the DIET Coke.
Sorry but I cannot understand first how a person can ever get that big and secondly once there stop the guilt trip and keep away from that diet stuff to apease the massive amount of guilt for eating Two Feet of sandwich with the works.
When ever I see a Subway sign this persons silouhette appears in my mind and I lose my urge to eat there.

I would have to agree with you there, Quiznos subs are very addictive but a bit pricy. I would have to give subway a close second as I like their steak and cheese subs:ntm:

There was a Subway inside of a 7-11 store here not too long ago but it only lasted 3 months or so and it closed down. Probably just a marketing experiment gone wrong.

Subway
Mr Sub I found too inconsistent between locations.
Quiznos - well - I just don't like the place. Pricey, food isn't that great.
Found Subway the healthiest of all.

I would have to go with Subway as my top pick. I dont mean to sound biased here just because my other half happens to work there but they are supposed to be, in the companies eyes anyways "sandwich artists". Well I have seen some of the work that the subway staff has done first hand and I must say, they are "starving artists". With the proper training and actual "love" for what they do...which I have to add, most employees of Subway dont have, you get a substandard sub. Unfortunately I cant give you the location of where to get the best one or who to have it made by but I can tell you that if I ever get the urge to have a sub, I know dang well its going to be done exactly the way I wanted it in the first place..."right". What most people dont realize is that most of the sub places listed have a high turnover of employees due to most of them being students looking to make a buck or two to help them get through school. The best employees are the ones that are older and have been there a year or more. Thats the ones that will give you the sub you are looking to actually enjoy eating. Bon appetit!!!

I've got a couple of $3.99 Quiznos sub & drink coupons so it makes things bearable. Otherwise I think they're too expensive. $8 is a bit much for a sub sandwich lunch.
Will keep the Subway meatball sub in mind though for the next munchie attack.

Quizno's meatball sub beats any sub out there, but the 10 dollar price tag keeps me away from every sub place :(
i like quiznos over all in sandwhich quality but price goes to subway...

100% second that!
I have been eating the meatball sub at subway since I was a kid and probably will never stop. The subway next to my school probably didn't help either.
Quizno is nice but too pricey for me!

I remember I had some coupons for subway. When me and a friend went there, they pulled out some bread from the back of the oven. I asked if it was fresh, the lady said yes and put the bun on the board. It was hard as rocks, it was like she was slicing through marble :@
After that, it's either Mr. Sub or quizno's for me.

Mr. Sub!! Quiznos is very nice but too costly.
Subway hands down, the bread variety is great.
Every chain has bad franchises if you have a complaint send it off to the head office, if a peticular store gets enough complaints and is being run "sub-standard" head office will pull the store from the owners. This just happened to a Food Basics in our area.

Taz just hit the nail on the head... there's good ones and bad ones...
I found that most Subways are great... but every once in a while you come across one that really sucks :(
Quiznos... never tried it.. didn't like the prices so I walked out
Mr.Sub... the only one near me sucks... :yyk:

For me, I like Mr Sub the best because they have the best Spicy Chicken. But I do like Subways price for a Tuna Sub.
But both being equal, Mr Sub gets my vote.

Interesting poll results and comments so far....
To be sure, Quiznos is pricier than the other 2 major players, but I found the quality of the sub to be superior (at least that's what I found at the one I went to).
Makes you wonder if they would have garnered more votes if their prices weren't an issue? :rrg:

George's Subs which is one block east of Bellamy and Kingston Rd. in Scarborough on the north side. The vegetables are the freshest and cut at the store. Try it and then tell me if you have ever had a bigger sub for the money.

So in short, you dont eat there because a fat man once ate there too?
i can somewhat relate as i stopped going to any fast food joint after noticing the mass amounts of overweight people who flood into mcdonalds and are adicted to the crap they make.
As for the topic. I dont have a preference. I dont go to those places enough but last week i went to subway and had a pretty good tuna sub. and just yesterday i was at work and decided to grab a bite so i went to Mr. Sub and had a tuna sub and i liked the bread better but other than that it was pretty much the same.
so because of the bread ill say Mr sub.

It depends on the sub. I like subway for their Tuna and Quizno's for anything with meat on it. If you buy the small sub the price isn't quite so bad. I usually take mine home and pass on the drink and chips.
For Rusty nut, some folks (like me) drink Diet Coke because they prefer the taste, not because of the guilt factor. It also makes more sense if you're pigging out on a bag of chips to have a drink that doesn't add any more calories.
