A friend recently asked me to find out the soultion to this problem. She is running WinMe (stop laughing) and has Rogers Hi-Speed Lite. After about 5 minutes or so online her computer just decides to drop her connection. The Einsteins as Tech Support keep telling her that it not them but her computer. What suggestions can I give her to look at before trying Rogers Tech Support once again. I dont have the particulars on her pc only because I havent seen it close up but its not a new one.

Thats a typical responce from Rogers when they dont know whats wrong ( chances are they are doing work in your area) . Have you checked the power management for the ethernet card?
I would make sure thats disabled
And is the modem away from the computer and pluged directly into the wall?

I had a computer that kept loosing it's connection.....the network card went south. Try another card. Does the modem have a USB connection...try that.

Yes for testing purposes, I don't recomend USB as it tends to slow down your connection and can conflict with your other USB devices.
Also I would try swapping ethernet cards as well.

Also try not to use a splitter.
