I have reformatted all my households computers many times with minimal probs. My son tried to re format his machine with win 98 while I wasnt there. He seems to have really screwed something up.He apparently did something with FDISK. When I try to format c, It only shows 8 gigs of space to be formatted. It is an 80gig drive, When I run FDISK it shows two partitions .I dont seem to be able to delete any partitions (completely following instructions) and when I try it keeps showing the same thing after re start. All I want to do is have no partitions on this drive at all. How do I get FDISK to have no partitions and load win 98? thanks

What make is the harddrive? To resolve this, a utility from the manufacturer may be required for it to see the full size again. But first, boot with the 98 boot disk, run fdisk and delete all partitions. Create a new partition then restart the computer with the boot disk still in. at the command prompt, type format c: /u and reboot again after its done. This may give you back the full drive size.
