Help With Windows ..

Hi there, One of my PC's is doing some funky stuff .. I start it up .. it takes me too the login screen .. I choose an account too log into and it logs in...but when it does...only the wallpaper shows up...no task bar...no icons on the desktop .. I've tried all accounts on the PC it does the samething....I've also tried loging into safe mode as I think a system restore would fix this... but it does the same thing in safe mode...does anyone have any ideas how too fix this ??

You could try the repair feature..

Boot using your WindXP CD
You may need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order

At the "Welcome To Setup" screen you will see the following choices..

To setup Windows XP now press ENTER....

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console press R... (Do NOT press "R" to repair)

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP press F3.

You need to press Enter to start the Windows Setup.

After accepting the License Agreement it will search for existing installations....
Select the XP
installation you want to repair from the list. This will usually be C:\Windows then press
R to start the repair

Setup will copy all of the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.
When it is rebooting and you see a message saying press any key to continue just leave it alone... Let the setup continue on its own.. It will look like its doing a clean install but it is only replacing system files all your applications and settings will be stay in place.
