My condolences, losing a loved one is heartbreaking.

Play hard at the Rainbow Bridge Peanut.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Peanut

She was well loved
She had a good home
She lived a good life
And will be missed
But never forgotten.

With happy memories
Stored in your hearts
She will indeed, live on.
Peanut was a blessing
And in turn, was well blessed.

The loss of a small pet can be particularly troubling. It's only a small creature, yet it's been so significant on ones perspective of life. We (daughter and dad) lost a degu a while back, Marshmallow. Jellybean now plays with Marshmallow II. My son had a young rabbit die. We can walk this road together.

Angie and I thank you for all your kind words.
caught myself waiting for the sound of squeaks and squeals
after I open the fridge door cause they know that were the
treats come from.

alas they die off rather fast since there where only 14 breeding pairs brought here and this lead to inbreeding and problems like diabetes.

smart little buggers they are though...lol.

My condolences to you and Angie, they may be just small critters but we really do become attached to them and once gone there is a void. Just think of the many happy times you had with Peanut, that should be a lasting happy memory.

I understood that they were brought to N.A. to study diabetes as they are one of the comparatively few mammals to get it.

Sorry about your loss. I know its hard to loose anything that is close to you no matter if its a human being or a pet. We become so close to our little furry friends that we sometimes get too attached to them and think they will be there forever. Unfortunately the reality is not that.
