I heard from a friend that it is illegal to drive and use your cell phone in Ontario.
I thought they purposed this a long time ago, but I was under the impression it never made it into law.

Is using a cellular phone while driving illegal anywhere in Canada?
As of April 1st 2003, it is illegal in Newfoundland and Labrador to use a hand-held cellular phone while driving. Currently no other Canadian jurisdictions ban the use of cell phones while driving, although some jurisdictions are considering legislation.
A driver who causes a collision by using a cellular phone or who is observed driving unsafely while using the device could be charged under a number of other provincial, territorial or federal laws including, but not limited to, those related to dangerous driving, careless driving and criminal negligence causing death or injury.

They can still get you for careless, or even dangerous, driving if in their judgement you are a menace on the road.

I just came back from the UK where talking on your cell, holding it in your hand while you drive, is punishable by stiff fines, I believe its ok if you use a headset though, BT headsets are really big over there as a result of this I am sure. They should enact some kind of law here, too many people are unable to drive and talk on their cell without it affecting their driving.

First time with a cell phone while driving was scary for me, almost didn't stop at an intersection where a pedestrian was crossing. After that incident I won't answer a call when it rings, just call back when its safer.
