Hi folks. As usual I come to you, hat in hand, looking for assistance. I've run across a progam called Uniblue Registry Booster 2.0. (It's based in Malta which sort of worries me). It's one of those programs that, in my case, tells me that I have 700+ registry errors. If I want to fix those errors (you get 15 fixes free) you must buy the real program for $US 29.95. Is this for real? I know that I have Registry errors because my computer just doesn't quite re-act the way it used to. Oh yes, I use Rogers Hi-speed Extreme and spend about 4 to 6 hours a day on my computer (Yes, I'm a junkie). I also use AVG, Ad-Aware, Spyhunter and Registry Smart. Is the Uniblue program for real? Or am I just throwing money away should I buy it? Actually, other than AVG, which Les recommended, are any of them any good? Your thoughts are always valued. Cheers - maps
P.S.: Maybe I should just take it in to Les?

Agree with ccleaner...run the issues and be done with it....never had an issue with what it fixes yet. I would be very leary of any other program.

Thanks folks. I did as you suggested and installed and ran ccleaner. My computer runs much more smoothly now. FYI - I ran into another program called PCRegistry and like Uniblue, it tells you that there are 700+ Registry problems. BUT, it's a free scan only and if you want to clear them you must subscribe for $US 29.95 for a one year subscription. They suck you in then ask for money to fix. I'm pretty leery of them now. Thanks again for your kind words of wisdom. Cheers - maps

Was this after running ccleaner that it said 700 + errors?

No. I never ran it, Uiniblue, again. Here's a side note: They did bill my Credit Card for the $US 29.95. I had sent numerous e-mails (10+) to Uniblue requesting my Serial Number so that I could access the program. I never received a reply. So I called my Credit Card company yesterday, explained the situation (it's a common "bait and switch" scam) and they cancelled the charge. So much for those that offer a free scan and then want money to clean the "problems". Another lesson sadly learned.

I saw your posting after I had just purchased this software. Naturally I got worried, especially since I bought it after seeing that it had 5* reviews from customers in Tucows. To my relief, the Serial Number came seconds later with the purchase confirmation e-mail and the S/W runs O.K. Regarding the errors which are "discovered", I can't judge. The equivalent PC Tools S/W which I also have reports around 150 errors vs. the 740+ of the Uniblue S/W.
