You COULD always TYPE in LINUX and FIREWALL into GOOGLE and THEN you'll GET results LIKE smoothwall AND ipcop.

Here's a list of "Live CD" firewalls:

http://www.frozentech.com/content/livecd.php?pick=All&showonly=Firewall&sort=&sm=1

A live CD doesn't require any installation. Just burn the image to a CD, boot from it on the computer and it works.

This is a great solution when you want to try out a few different options.

The first one on that list is the best in my experience.

The distro does not determine what is the best firewall. Without dragging things out too much, may I suggest....

1. What ever distro you use, strip it down to bare bones. There's one that will even run on a 386 (command line only). A decent PII or an average PIII will do just fine
2. Get to know what IP tables are all about.

Google is your friend, but here is one example... http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_linux_firewall_ipcop

(Sorry Mr. Apollo, I realized after the fact that I was being repetative)
