We have a customer that has a adminstrative contact on the domain that is not longer there. So to have that changed I am told that I can sign in to a site and submit a request for the change.
Anyone ever done this and do you have tips ?
Thanks
You should be able to log in whever he registered the domain and just make the changes in their control panel.

We had this happen at work a few years ago. It was fairly simple, we changed it with a phone call and a fax.

ThanksDepends on the Control Panel of the registrar, but, as Nuke stated, simply a matter of logging in and making the change. As long as it is not an ownership change there shouldn't be any problem.
This really comes down to the quality of the registrar. Stuff like this are why it pays to spend a couple (litterally) of more dollars a year for registration. When there is a problem or something like this needs changed, a quality registrar will help a heck of alot more than a "bargin basement" registrar.
Your question has certainly been answered though Les:
Either login to the web based control panel and submit a change
or
Call the registrar and request the change.

This happens frequently with small and medium-sized business, where the Admin Contact for a domain was the IT Person responsible for that role. This is one of those tasks that often gets missed when that IT Person later leaves the company.
Colosseum also offers Domain Registration services, just so you know, and to appeal to many smaller business owners who have limited to no knowledge of Domain Registration issues, we offer the use of our role account to serve as the Admin Contact for these domains. This then removes all worry from a business owner, since the ISP watches out for their domains, and contacts them when a renewal comes due.
(I think this is the "good service" that someone mentioned previously! :) )
In the case you mentioned, it seems they found out the Admin Contact was no longer valid, before the domain expired, which is good. I've seen numerous cases where they don't discover until the domain expires, that the Admin Contact address was no longer valid, or not being read. This can sometimes result in having to do a 'Manual Admin Change' process, that leaves the domain out of commission, typically for several days.
The previous answers all assume that the company has kept the login information necessary to access their domain through their Registrar. But often the same IT People who are no longer with the company, did not forward the login info. If you lose the login info, you can normally log in, and request it be sent to the Admin Contact. Of course, if the Admin Contact is no longer valid, you're now faced with calling your Registrar, and convincing them that you are the owner, and having them change the address for you. (This normally then requires the Manual Admin Change process.)
As you can tell, all the Support folks at Colosseum wear a number of different hats! It's one of the reasons I think we are able to offer the level of customer service we do!
Take care,

Can you tell us the domain name and we can provide you with a specific reply about the domain name/registrar?
