maybe there is something that i am missing here, but if not, i hate apple's e-mail.

if i am viewing a webpage, and there is a link at the bottom of the page to contact the author, and i click it, this mail thing comes up that won't let me even see the e-mail address i want to i can at least go into my e-mail account and mail them. do you have to pay for this service? in windows, that link would just take you to your inbox and that is that. from what i understand, you have to pay for a .mac account, which i couldn't care less about so i will not give them money for it. is there a way to use that mail thing?

um. It works the same way on a mac as in windows. Do you use mail for your email?

no you don't. Use whatever email account you want. Mail is an email app just like any other. I use mail because it's a very good app.

I use MS Entourage (the Mac version of Outlook), and on either program (Entourage and OS X's own "Mail" program), you can access POP accounts and Hotmail accounts etc. You do not need a .Mac account ever, although the service does have its advantages depending on one's needs.
