Norton Antivirus question.

I'm trying to find out if there's a way to update the virus definitions on Norton Antivirus by copying the original CD and replacing the definitions files. I am hoping to do some small PC repair and it would be nice to have the scan-from-cd option with up to date definitions. I have bought the software and will be using my copy to scan possibly infected pc's.

No I don't think you will be able to do this. You can download individual definitions though, why dont you just do this?

Because to keep a legit business I might get in trouble with installing my copy of Norton and using the latest definitions on their computer. I'm trying to be 100% legal.

Check your settings in N. I . S. ( I asume you're using Norton Internet Security )
If you blocked the domain or pop server you will not get any mail, check your settings from the window that controls the email, read carefully somewhere there is a setting change from a previous time.

p.s. i made an image of my nav cd and lined up the files created by the intelligent updater and moved the files on the image... worked like a charm (i used NAV 2002), even tried it by using the Wullik-A virus and it got detected just fine
