Another Problem

Now when I start up my vista computer it shows the colourful screen just before it brings up the accounts I can sign into. But when it gets to the screen with the accounts it's just a black screen with the mouse on it. What can I do to fix this because it doesn't work in safemode either.

Someone may be able to help but might need more information. Vista home or Premium or Ultra? When the computer starts is it a full boot or from standby?
Do you use a router or direct connection to a cable modem?

One thing to test before you provide more information. Disconnect the internet connection and then turn the computer on. See if it starts .

It's Home Premium doing a full boot I guess because it's going from powered off to on.

It's from a router wireless connected, but I'm not sure how that helps as it always was and always worked.

Some systems are very slow to start up if they are searching for a network connection. Try to see if the PC is still working correctly by booting to a Live CD. Linux versions like Mepis or Ubuntu or PCLinuxOS offer live CD booting. If everything works then we narrow the problem down to your OS - Windows.
