And if I can get my nephew to part with his '01 330i, I'll be in here like a dirty shirt, bragging just like the rest. :d

I wouldn't touch a German built car. Parts are grossly overpriced (assuming you don't have to wait weeks for them) and the quality is not what it used to be.

Myth.

I've priced out different parts between BMW and a few N.American cars(mind you this is not dealer items) and if there was a difference it wasn't all that much, maybe $10 or $20 more. And sometimes the parts were cheaper.
Ok I can't say the same thing for VW and Benz because I didn't compare those.

BMW prices are about the same as everybody else. I haven't found much difference comparing the BMW to the Alero prices.

I have done my research Yogi and the cars are very reliable. I'm looking for E39s.

Well ok here is my set of wheels.

First picture is with the old rims(steel ones) and of course the second is with the new rims.

I got the car this spring. A 96 318i with 92,700KM on it(and yes i check wasn't rolled back), I'm now at 98,888 Km on it.

Are you going to winter store it, or is this your only set of wheels?

Digiital

Ya it's my only wheels, as you can see from one of the pictures the red car, thats what the bmw replaced. The Saturn is a 92 with 261,000 with the factory clutch(manual) which is now more or less worn out and the cost to repair it is out of the question, and a few other issues, so the bmw is my only wheels, Ok besides a minivan(I drive in a south direction and the wife drive in a west direction for work). I more the likely will drive it VERY little, GO station isn't that far.

Nice beemer Digital. Always liked the last generations look compared to the 2005 version which just sucks. hello BMW, its a 3 series vehicle with 5 series look which I hate as its too big.

Thanks. E46's are nice looking as well(the look before the 2006's) but I kinda like the new look of the 3's. Saw one for the first time this week.

Btw folks, since this is a bimmer thread. Here is a video I did this spring with the bimmer cruise up to Wasaga. About 40 cars.

Here is another one, I didn't do this video, but this was a cruise starting around Hwy 9 and 400 then we cruised the back roads down to Mississauga for a BMW car show, well over 50 cars in this trip(110 Km trip). This one is long, but you can see in some shots the LONG LONG line of bimmers.

Yeah a 530i. Drove another one today. Had everything done to it from Maranello BMW. Will talk to the bank now to find some rates.

Ok I can't say the same thing for VW and Benz because I didn't compare those.Well yes, if you don't go through the dealer. However, most people compare prices at the dealer as that's where most people (owners of new cars especially) go for repairs. My friend paid $550 for new front pads on his 740iL. I think most of that was labour, however, the pads we something like $175 each or something crazy like that.

True. If you can afford the BMW you can afford the dealer costs. Of course thats on a newer model. But for the older stuff you can get parts pretty cheaply. THANK YOU MODDER'S!! I needed a tail light, and instead of buying new I was able to get one for $20 because the guy wanted to put on clears on his. Just this weekend, I needed to get a set of springs for the rear, I was able to get a set for almost new for another $20(total).

I find with the E36's you can get lots of stuff for pretty cheap with alot of people doing mods on the cars there are LOT of OEM stuff like new up for grab for cheap or free.

My nephew and I had a few on the week-end, and he said if all goes well he would trade me straight-up for my Accord.

Should I say "Yes"?

Relax, I did, but we will see what transpires.

In the meantime I checked with my current mechanic, and they do service on quite a few BMWs right now. They take good care of my Honda, for a price, but I trust them.

As SpongeBob would say "I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready." :d
