I hope you arent planning on a straight up exchange. the game sells for 19.99 new so EB will give you a dollar for it .

D.A is a game id keep in my collection though, but thats just me. youd be better off trading in at blockbuster. Theyd give you more for it. at least 10 bucks.

Or are you the one with the GF who is a manager at EB?
either way EB games is a rip off. not to mention they sell games for 10 dollars more than futureshop and Best buy , sell their used games for rediculous prices and give you nothing for trade ins.

What do you mean, what system to buy the game for? For me it would depend on the price and the requirements to run it very very well. As for controls, it has gotten to the point where im just as good with the controller as i am with the keyboard and mouse.

Are you serious when you say that?

I dought the PC version will have better graphics.

I just played it for another 1hour. and i've more or less mastered the controls

Here's your achievement list (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/achievements.php?gameID=271).... Looks mostly single player oriented.

Yep, xbox.com tells you pretty much it's a single player game.

and you also get achievements on the 360... which is probably the deciding factor for all those achievement enthusiasts out there. One of my friends on LIVE already broke 100K on achievements... course all he does is play vids strictly for them... no life!

Yeah AND boys. unless you have DX10 AND vista you ain't gonna beat 360, myself, I could use Vista but I am not, so 360 is the way to go, plus I like playing for a goal (achievements), makes me want to play more I still have not broken the 1k barrier :(

Those reviews that you see done with PC, are with DX10. I have mastered the controls more or less on the 360 now, so I have no problems with that, and I think the graphics are great.

Thnx again for that achievement list

I have shooters for the 360, and I just can not get used to the controls with the game pad. I find playing shooters much easier on a PC. Although, achievments are a strong incentive....I hardly have any points because mostly I use my 360 for DVD's right now. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are indeed very impressive on the 360, but I am a PC gamer for the most part. But now that I have some free time on my hands, I will attempt shooters on the 360 again. As for bioshock, it looks amazing, but I have so many games I have not played yet, so I will wait for a bit and by thenit will have gone down in price. Not to get off topic with the bioshock but does anyone here have the new Harry Potter game for the 360, I do and it looks sweet...I got it as a gift.

Dan
08-20-2007, 11:53 AM
But my friend, thats the whole challenge of playing these shooters on 360, you gotta get use to it, thats what I said about GoW.... turned about to be awesome in the end

Huh? Are you saying that somehow the Xbox 360 with its DX9-equivalent graphics system looks better than DX9 on PC, despite the fact that it's limited to a 1280x720 resolution at best? That makes no sense at all. Unless you have a computer that's too slow to run at medium graphics settings, it's always going to look better on the PC, even in DX9.

Obviously there are still other differences, like the achievement system that's only available on the Xbox 360, and the fact that with a console you're playing on a large TV. Still, saying the Xbox 360 version looks better is just nonsense.

Dan
08-20-2007, 12:13 PM
Well nobody can really say it looks better, because nobody has gotten their hands on the demo yet.

But what I am saying is... The PC version is limited to the hardware you are running on AND the monitor in which you are viewing it on.

Whereas, the 360 version is made to run @ 60fps (PC is limited to your hard ware), and if your lucky to have an HDTV you've got the chance to play the game on 720p without lag or anything.

If you are fortunate to have the computer with hardware to run it on full-rez, full AA, full AF etc... then all the power to you, I dont :P .. 360 rocks my sox

Dan, good point about the challenge of playing shooters on the 360. I do not like the fact though that 360 games are more money then the pc versions.

Thanks for the heads up. Already playing for the 360, but I would like to see how it looks on my PC.
Great game by the way.
Graphics wise it's not mind blowing apart from the water, but the amount of things you can do and the story line makes it worth it.

Edit: apparently the offical PC demo will be out today.

try updating your drives , you cant install direct X 10 , because its vista only, and doesnt have a downloadable installer.

Point taken, even if there's no chance in hell of the Xbox 360 running at full AA and AF.

It's apples to oranges anyway...developers will put in all sorts of optimizations for various platforms that makes it extremely difficult to compare. On the one hand, the constant hardware platform of a console allows them to make very specific tweaks to codepaths that would be impossible on the ridiculously huge combination of hardware available on PCs. On the other hand, the fact that PCs tend to have far more memory allows developers to do things like use higher resolution textures or more effects. Finally, sometimes the game will be plain different depending on platform...just look at how GRAW had more features on PCs, or how the console versions of Spider-Man 2 was entirely different from (and far better than) the PC version.

I think there's one thing we can agree on though, and that's that Bioshock will be awesome regardless of which platform you play it on. :)

My GF got my copy for me last night, but i didn't get home from work til 1130pm so i never got a chance to try it... I'll be home by 4 today though, so you'll know what i'll be doing after. It's funny I came home and found a "Big Daddy" figure (I guess it came with the Special Edition) sittin on the coffee table... she hid the game in the house and I had to find it LOL.

I totally agree... I think Bioshock will rock regardless of what you play it on. I do like the achievement factor on the 360 though!

It's with the Collector's Edition

Law

kinda sucks that the CE will be 79.99 but Best buy has the regular on sale for 59.99/ The big daddy isnt worth 20 bucks to me.

compygeek
08-21-2007, 03:39 PM
yeah... it is a scandalous price... I had the regular pre-ordered, but the gf brought home the CE. It comes with a making of DVD, soundtrack (which is only 3 tracks lol), the big daddy and some other stuff. I havent' even seen it yet, cuz I'm at work and she hid the damn game on me. I think it may have been a manager's copy, but not sure.

I'll be waiting for a used copy.

Did not want to start a new thread just for this quick question

Does 360 support usb keyboard? like for chats etc...?

Law
08-21-2007, 05:17 PM
yup

Dan
08-21-2007, 05:25 PM
so why buy a 'quickchat' thing to attache to your controller when you can easily just put a usb keyboard?

Law
08-21-2007, 05:30 PM
so why buy a 'quickchat' thing to attache to your controller when you can easily just put a usb keyboard?

I couldnt answer that.
But I was hoping that it could be used in games for more complex commands like PC games have. Like in the old classic X-WIng you could set shields to recharge fast , medium or redirect the power to engines or guns.

and you pretty much could control all aspects of your ship and other commands. I hoped this devie may lead to more simulation type games on 360 instead of all arcade dumbed down peices of crap.

but i doubt that will happen , which is why PC gaming is still number one.

wow i tend to go off sometimes.
