View Full Version : When Hunting Mushrooms....
When hunting mushrooms and fungus and your squatting in the woods to take a picture, first make sure you are not sitting in a patch of poison ivy.
Oh no.......you didnt????
Is that a puffball?
That is a puff ball, and yes I did. Straight to the river and scrubbed my bare legs. Usually poison ivy doesn't bother me too much but today it was quite itchy.
The recent rains have brought out mushrooms and fungus that I thought we wouldn't see this year.

Deb is going to cook them up for me .. thanks for the puffs Neal :)
Your quite welcome! Enjoy! Should have taken the big ones. Now I'll have to eat them all myself.
That's surprising, with the summer we've had, arent they a bit early? We used to get them and morales at the cottage, but usually around Thanksgiving.
They are yummy.

Nice pic Neal, looks like you enjoyed but sorry for the itch.
Morels are done by the end of May just around trillium season and it was too dry in my favoured hunting grounds this year. Believe me I looked far and wide. Most people find puff balls later in the season (late summer/fall). I think I have discovered a couple of micro climates and been able to exploit them. This is actually late for me and puff balls.
