Hi, I just bought a new pc (specs below), and would like to know how to connect it to my old one so that I can have internet connection on both. I know I can do it using 2 Ethernet cards on the host computer and 1 on the guest. I am not sure how to go about it. If anyone has a link to a guide, or if they can outline the steps for me, it would be appreciated.

Now to the specs of my new toy

AMD ATHLON 64 3200+
ASUS K8N nFroce 3
1GB DDR400 PC3200
W.D 80G 7200rpm
LG 4163 16X DVD+/-RW
ATI Radeon 9250 128M TVO(MSI)
Creative SB Audigy ZS
SyncMaster 793DF 17” Monitor

Thanx in advance for the help

Is your internet connection a broadband one?

If that is the case, the easiest method would be to use a router.

I believe the router would be easier and better.

yea go with a router, most come with 4 ports so you have room to grow or if a friend comes by with their computer you can share files, also both computers will now be able to share internet

Follow the instructions provided (with the router), and if it doesn't work right away don't get frustrated. Rogers doesn't want people to use them - they would rather sell additional IPs for $10+ each. (per month)

is there going to be a problem with the new modems that are mandatory with rogers, and a router

Nope, no problems what-so-ever :)

Really, everyone should use a router... if even just for the hardware firewall

And if Rogers really didn't want people using routers, they wouldn't have online help for hooking them up and troubleshooting ;)
