Do you know if they are Taiwanese or Japanese disks?

Anyone know what's the difference between them.
The Made in Japan (MIJ) tends to be much better in quality compared to Made In Taiwan (MIT) media. MIJ is made usually by Taiyo Yuden (for 4x Maxell) or Maxell itself (for 8x)...
The 8x MIT media is made by ritek and isnt even comparable in quality to MIJ media from maxell..
My burner is very old (Pioneer A04) and the MIJ media seems to respond well with my burner, but the MIT media is just crap.... I get 40% bad burns/jitters/coasters from 100 dvdr compared to 0 coasters from about 250 MIJ disks from maxell...

PLEASE EMAIL MAXELL CANADA AND TELL THEM TO SWITCH BACK TO MIJ MEDIA!!!

Does anyone know how both the MIT and MIJ discs function in a GSA 4163B by LG?

Did not encounter any issues with the Maxell MIT (Ritek05) and MIJ media,
Using the LG GSA-4163B with the most current firmware A105.

With that said, due to questionable longevity issue, for inexpensive discs,
May want to try the Sony brand DVD-R discs priced at $19.77? for 50 discs/spindle, available at Walmart instead.

I just bought RTL+DVD+R 100PK for 49.99
I would return it but i need them and there's no future shop near by.

What does Inscriptable mean???

POST NOTE: I'm an idiot. Inscriptable means RECORDABLE in French. I should return them and say i dont need bilingual disks just english would be fine.

of all the brands i've used for creating movies and music.
Verbatim, Maxell, Vakoss, FujiFilm and ALOT of others.

I've never had problems. Not a single incorrect disc was burnt. Yet people always complain this brand is better than the others.

Someone tell me what the difference is and how one is titled "better" than the others?
Is there a different manufacturing procedure? i'm almost certain they are made the same way, probably at the same facility too.

I'm not causing trouble as this is a legitimate post.

The process is the same, but the parts can differ. The most important thing is the writing surface, which is a dye. Depending on what manufacturers put into the dye, the lifetime of the dye is affected, affecting the lifetime of the DVD you burn.

I have A104 in mine, I assume you upgraded it yourself? Any particular reason (to upgrade from A104)?

Correct.
Just the usual.

Taken from LG:

?? Model:GSA-4163B
?? Ver:A105
?? Improvement Point
-. Improvement of recording quality for DVD??R and DVD-RW
-. Addition of new DVD codes
?? DVD-R: Optodisc(OPTODISCR016), Prodisc(ProdiscF02), Ritek(RITEKM16)
?? DVD+R: UME Disc(AML 002 0), DAXON(DAXON AZ3 0)

P.S. Although the Optodisc brand is recognized and such,
I definitely would NOT recommend using that brand of media.
Personal encounter with it resulted in media lifespan of just several months before degradation occurred. eg. skipping, freezing...

Initial burn results may be good, however longevity of the media and more importantly, its' contents, may not stay intact.

As with all companies, some skimp on quantity of chemicals used, extend the use of machines to produce more discs, poor quality control...
The usual, to cut costs but at the expense of quality.
