"Hilly Kristal, who founded CBGB, the Bowery bar that became the cradle of punk and art-rock in New York in the 1970s and served as the inspiration for musician-friendly rock dives throughout the world, died in Manhattan on Tuesday. He was 75."

Being a huge fan of the Punk genre, it's sad to hear of his passing especially since he was unable to save the club that he wanted to outlive him.
Thank you, Hilly, for giving a venue that launched some of the greatest bands in rock history.

One of my "top 3 concerts of all time" was the Ramones at the "Warehouse" on Queen's Quay in Toronto in the late '80s. The energy of that band was absolutely incredible and "tight" can't even begin to describe how totally in sync they were while playing every one of their songs at about 3 times the speed of their records!
