I'm thinking of cancelling Bell altogether and hopefully have my number transferred to a VOIP service.
I'm using a third party DSL service provider...is this possible at all or am I in way over me silly head?

Yes, you can do that... It's called 'naked DSL'

You can have naked DSL on most DSL ISPs however if your DSL provider is not Sympatico then you will be paying extra for a dry line and the extra fee depends on where you live.

There's no escape, eh?
Where can I find out about the extra fee? Should I contact Bell?

If your isp provides dry line service then call them and they will be able to tell you. If they don't, then i'd say just move over to Sympatico and if you sign a contract you can talk them down to $29.95/month for DSL and no additional charge for dry line.

Sounds like a plan.
Thanks for the suggestions.
