As we have all found out things can be a major pain if your card isn't supported by windows media center.
There is plenty of free options out there but most have one issue or another and some are just too much when all you want is simple.
After much messing around i found that windvr 3 is the simplest and easiest way to go.
It installs fine without issues or errors.
The only issues you have are to be sure you have drivers for you device which at thaty point there likely is.
The next is that under audio input all the sources are missing which means you can control sound through windvr.
This is dead simple to fix and about 30 sec of work, all one needs to do is right click on the windvr exe and tell it to run in windows xp sp2 compatablity mode.
Once this is done sources are back and sound is contorable once again.
This is a simple low impact program with excellent video and easy to use record options and video options is all you need is svideo like me for my satellite reciever.
Sadly windvr isn't free but if you have bought a burner or any other hardware you likely got a free copy of it.
Ps.. no reason it soudn't work with older version of windvr.
