Rename Folders

Trying to rename some foldels and I get this error message. whe I try to.
anyone knows how ca i fix this ...using vista ultimate.

If you click on the message box and press "ctrl + c" Windows (xp or vista) will copy the text of the error message.

Then if you go to google and press "shift + insert" the text of that error box can be placed in the google search box.

I'm not being facetious, it's just that a lot of folks don't realize that you can copy-and-paste text like this. If you do it into google, chances are on the very first page you will find your answer.

Looks like folks have found a couple of different solutions. Did you give any of them a go?

A reg change

Elevated command prompt svc command

A quick system restore to before it existed

A long scandisk

have this problems for weeks now.. going to try a scandisk.

What version of Vista do you have? 32-bit or 64-bit

Rename or move files/folders fix.

Import the .reg file
