Hi everyone,
I was at Best Buy yesterday and checked out the itouch for the first time and really like it. I really liked that you could check email wirelessly and the keyboard was really good. Are there any problems with this product? What is the reliability of it?
I have a PSP right now and have a wireless network with WEP encryption. For some reason when the encryption is on, I cannot connect my PSP to the wi-fi network. Does the itouch have any problems like this?
Thanks,

I got the 16GB iPod Touch. Absolutely love it. No problems on the wifi end at all. Using WPA2 encryption. Just note that if you have Wifi Enabled on the touch, it will drain your battery quicker.

Thanks compygeek for your help.
Since you have one please help me with this. When I was testing one out, I went to the calender option and tried adding an appointment but it wouldnt allow me to. Is this because it was locked for the demo version at Best Buy or can you not do it at all?
Thanks.

Unfortunately, the calender is just a calender. Apple decided to strip alot of the functions from the iPhone on the iPoT. However, there's hope. With the launch of Leopared only a few days away, apparently Apple is also going to allow the installation of applications via a firmware update on the iPoT. However, this can already be done using Jailbreak, which hacks the iPoT, allow the user to add a huge array of software apps to the iPod. I've done it already, and have 2 pages of apps on mine.

what kind of apps can you add? is it easy to use the Jailbreak? is there a possibility of bricking the Touch??

There's always the possibility of bricking the Touch. However, for firmware 1.1.1, all you have to do is point Safari at http://www.jailbreakme.com and that website will automatically do it for you -- just follow its instructions. (The website just shows a small page on a PC, it has to be viewed on the Touch for it to do anything.)
It uses an exploit in the way Safari handles TIFF images to execute arbitrary code (in this case, Jailbreak). This exploit will probably be patched in the next firmware update, so I'd get the Touch before that happens. :)

There has been known issues with that website bricking some iPod Touches.... Be forwarned!!!
Mostly due to some iPod wifi connections being borked after the TiFF exploit is executed, the website cannot finish the hack. The best way to jailbreak would be to download touchfree (http://www.ipodtouchhacks.com/ipod/touch/hacks/jailbreak/), ensure no iTunes services are running in the background and follow the on screen instructions. The jailbreakme website also only installs the installer.app and not SSH. Most 3rd party apps need SSH for you to customize your iPoT although you can just download SSH from the installer.app anyway.

here are some screenshots of the iPod Touch's interface after I had done some customizing.
I changed the icons, wallpaper, carrier text (used to say iPod, now it's the Half Life 2 Lambda symbol). And as you can see, I can add multiple pages of 3rd party apps to the iPod (some useful, some games, some for show). I've also edited the battery charge image (used to be just a green colored clear battery symbol) with a Duracell battery charger image. I've changed the slider icons to a cooler looking carbon slider for both power and unlock, as well changed the text to say 'hello' or 'goodbye' with a cool green color animation. The border of the screen is no longer the "Apple Grey" color but redish stripes. Hope you like the pics!!!! Post for any feedback or questions.
