This guide we will put special emphasis on the hard drive, processor and RAM, taking you through a variety of settings to optimally configure these and hopefully end up with an overall smoother running system.

Vista runs smooth out of the box unless you are running it on your granny's computer.

Hahaha, I remember when I was at Best Buy, this guy brought in an MDG machine that had 128 MB RAM and some 1.6 or something Celeron processor. He was complaining that it took 45 minutes to start up. We tried it out and it literally took 38 minutes to boot up. I have no idea how MDG even installed Vista on it.

Vista is a really good OS. I haven't had any problems with it and everyone's complaints seems to be anecdotal or due to really old hardware.

Thanks Blue... my 1gb or ram is struggling to keep things running smoothly (even with 2gb flash drive running readyboost).

I'll try a few of the tweaks.
